How to deal with industrial computer installation faults?

An industrial computer is an automation device that can operate reliably in an industrial environment as a controller. With the continuous development of industrial automation, industrial computers have been widely used in industrial automation, self-service terminals, medical equipment, rail transit, communications, finance, network security and other fields. Installation faults refer to the faults that occur when the industrial computer installs the operating system or application software. As the center of industrial control, the normal operation of the industrial mini PC is related to the stable and efficient operation of the system, and the user should master how to accurately and effectively handle the failure of the industrial computer.
Possible malfunctions
1. When installing the operating system, the industrial mini PC crashes or reports errors during file copying; it crashes or reports errors during system configuration.
2. The industrial mini PC reports errors, restarts, downtimes, etc. when installing the application software.
3. After the hardware equipment is installed, the industrial computer system is abnormal (such as black screen, not starting, etc.).
4. After the application software is uninstalled, it cannot be installed, or cannot be uninstalled.
Parts that may be involved
Disk drives, industrial motherboards, CPUs, memory, and possibly other components, software.
Troubleshooting points
Ⅰ. Preparation before maintenance
Prepare the disk data cable; the latest driver for the corresponding hardware device.
Ⅱ.Software installation
1. Check the connection and appearance of the hardware device
(1) Check whether other devices connected to the fanless industrial PC work normally.
(2) Whether the connection lines between the devices are connected incorrectly or missed. Check whether the pins connecting the plugs and sockets are deformed, missing or short-circuited.
(3) Carefully check the error message and determine the parts that may cause the failure.
(4) Observe whether the hardware equipment has peculiar smell and check the temperature of the components.
(5) Whether the rotational speed of the CPU fan of the fanless industrial PC is too slow or unstable.
(6) Whether there is any abnormal sound when the driver of the industrial computer is working.
2. Other inspections
(1) Check the user manual of the software to confirm that the software and hardware configuration of the fanless industrial PC meets the requirements for use.
(2) Observe whether the installation medium is in good condition.
Ⅲ. Equipment installation
1. Whether the equipment and components to be installed on the fanless industrial PC are connected correctly, whether the connecting cable is in good condition, and whether the connector is missing, broken or short-circuited.
2. Whether the driver of the device is in good condition.
Ⅳ. The main points of fault judgment
1. Install the operating system
First: Check the settings in the CMOS and restore to factory settings if needed. Second: pay attention to the parameters of the hard disk, the temperature of the CPU, etc. Observe whether the information displayed during the self-check of the industrial computer is consistent with the actual hardware configuration.
2. Install the software
First: check for viruses.
Second: Check whether the partition table is correct and whether the partition is activated. Use the Fdisk /mbr command to ensure that the master boot record is correct (after using this command, the industrial computer cannot be started, which proves that there is a virus or error in the original system, and the hard disk of the industrial computer should be initialized). Finally: Check your system for any third-party memory-resident programs.
3. Installation process
(1) If the CAB and other files are reported wrong when copying files, you can try to copy the original files to another hard disk and then install. If it passes normally, there is a problem with the original installation medium, you can check whether the medium and the corresponding drive are faulty; if it still cannot be copied, you should check the disk drive, data cable, memory and other components of the industrial computer.
(2) If a file error such as CAB is reported during overwriting installation, replace the installation medium. If the fault still exists, you should initialize the hard disk of the industrial computer first, and then reinstall it. If it still can't be solved, then consider the IPC hardware.
(3) During the installation process, if there is an error message, blue screen or downtime, etc. when detecting the hardware, one is to restart the industrial computer several times to see if it can pass; the other is to check whether it can pass under the minimum software system. If it fails, you should check the memory, disk, CPU, power supply and other components in the minimum software system in turn. If it can be installed normally, it is a fault or configuration problem of components other than the minimum system of the software. After the installation is completed, you can gradually add those components and judge whether there is a fault or improper configuration.
Ⅴ Hardware and other problems
1. If the system is restarted or powered off during installation, it is required to test under the minimum software system. If the fault disappears, after installing the system, connect the equipment other than the minimum software system one by one, check which component caused the fault, and use the replacement method to solve it; if the fault cannot disappear, check the power supply, industrial Motherboard and memory, and even disk drives.
2. Install hardware equipment
(1) Whether the installed equipment and components are identified during the self-checking process of the fanless industrial PC, or can be identified by the operating system. If it cannot be recognized, check the BIOS settings of the fanless industrial pc and the device itself, including jumpers and corresponding slots or ports.
(2) Check whether the newly installed equipment of the fanless industrial PC is in conflict with the equipment in the original system; by changing the installation sequence of the driver, removing the corresponding parts or equipment in the original system, and replacing the slot, see if the fault is eliminated. If it cannot be eliminated, it is incompatible.
(3) Whether the added equipment matches the technical specifications or physical specifications of the existing system.
(4) Check whether some settings in the current system do not match the installed components or device drivers.
