The difference between capacitive and resistive touch screen

 2020-12-17    PV:1889

Capacitive touch screen generally refer to capacitive panel PC touch screen. It uses the current induction of the human body to work. It is composed of a four-layer composite glass screen, the inner layer will be coated with a layer of ITO to ensure a relatively good working environment, and the outermost layer will also have a glass protective layer. The working principle of the capacitive touch screen is to realize multi-point touch control, which relies on increasing mutual capacitance.

Resistive touch screen generally refers to resistive panel PC touch screen. It is a sensor that can be touched in a rectangular area and can read back the voltage of the touched point.

The difference between capacitive touch screen and resistive touch screen, which one is better?

1. Different working principles

The resistive touch screen is made of multilayer transparent conductive plates. When the stylus touches the screen, the transparent metal inside can recognize the corresponding signal from the user.

The capacitive touch screen is composed of a person's body, the top of the screen, and the surface of the screen as a coupling capacitor, which is distributed on the four corners of the fanless panel PC touch screen and corresponding changes will occur when the user gives instructions.

2. Different accuracy and sensitivity

The precision of the resistive touch screen is higher than that of the capacitive touch screen. It only needs a very small pixel pressure to locate and identify the signal very accurately.

Capacitive touch screen also has its advantages, it is better than resistive touch screen in sensitivity. We only need to touch the surface of the fanless panel PC touch screen with our fingers to receive the signal in real time.

3. Different user experience

The user experience of capacitive panel PC touch screen is improved to a new level and better than resistive panel PC touch screen.

4. Different cost

The technology for the development of resistive touch screen is relatively mature, the production equipments and raw materials are relatively easy to obtain, which makes the cost of resistive touch screen lower than that of capacitive touch screen.

Resistive touch screen has entered the market very early, as the input carrier of mobile phone and other PC devices, it is easy to find related repair parts in the market and they are easy to repair.

5. Different visual effects

Resistive screen: It reflect light, so the resistive touch screen panel PC has a good visual effect. But it's more difficult to clean and maintain.

Capacitive screen: Its production material will absorb light, so the outdoor fanless panel PC touch screen will have good visual effects. With its own high-strength glass, the panel PC touch screen is not easily damaged, so it is also easy to clean up the dirt on it.

6. Their advantages and disadvantages

Resistive screen: It is to achieve point positioning, and the pressure of the panel PC touch screen needs to be present, so we need some external media, such as nails, metal and other hard objects to touch it. Since the surface layer of the panel PC touch screen is made of soft materials, this operation will cause damage to the screen. However, there is an advantage that it is not afraid of falling or breaking.

Capacitive screen: Its outer surface is made of high-strength conductive glass. This material is not easy to cause scratches and stains on the panel PC touch screen. But it is more likely to cause the screen to crack.

This is a basic introduction of capacitive touch screen and resistive touch screen.Which one is better? At present, it is generally believed that capacitive touch screen is better than resistive touch screen. With the development of capacitive touch screen, resistive touch screen may withdraw from the market.
