The Correct Methods of IPC Fault Detection

 2022-05-07    PV:1798

According to the reasons for the failure of the industrial computer, the problems can be divided into five categories:

1. Failure caused by normal aging

With the upgrading of electronic technology, mechanical technology and electrical technology, especially now many industrial computers (such as embedded industrial computers, industrial tablet computers) use the cable-free design method, and all functions and interfaces are directly onboard on the motherboard, resulting in fewer and fewer problems due to normal aging.

2. Failure caused by human factors

It mainly refers to the failure caused by the wrong method due to unfamiliarity with the product characteristics of the industrial computer at the application site. For example, industrial tablet computers generally use resistive touch screens, but users who are accustomed to capacitive screens do not understand the touch method of resistive screens, resulting in touch screen damage.

3. Faults formed by electrical connection

Since the mission of the industrial computer is to adapt to various complex operating environments, it is inevitable that there will be a lot of dust and vibration at the application site. For example, long-term vibration will cause loose connectors between components and cause touch failures. This kind of fault is very difficult to identify, and it is often easy to find faults at the user's site, but once it is sent back to the manufacturer for testing, it will work normally. This phenomenon has also been greatly improved with designs such as no cables.

4. Faults formed by software

Including the customer's application software settings improperly, operating system failure or damage, virus, the probability of such failures should be the highest of all problems.

5. Problems due to the application environment

Factors such as unstable power supply, electromagnetic interference, high or low operating environment temperature, or even lightning strikes, etc., cause such failure: either improve the operating environment, or Improve product defense and operating levels.

The detection of IPC faults advocates following five principles:

First software, then hardware;

First outside, then inside;

First power, then parts;

First general, then special;

First simple , then complex.

1. "First software, then hardware" means to analyze and clean up the operating system and application software first, and then check the hardware problems;

2. "First outside, then inside" means to first clean the peripherals, such as the connected capture card, camera, mouse and keyboard, etc., and then open the cover to view the inside;

3. "First power, then parts" means to check whether the power input of the industrial computer is normal, and then check other parts;

4. "First general, then special" means that after a problem occurs, start from the place that is most likely to cause the fault, such as whether the wiring is loose, and if there is still a fault, then check the components;

5. "First simple, then complex" refers to starting from simple problems to detect and repair, so that complex problems can be decomposed into simple problems.
